Information: This information-analytic overview "Children, women, and HIV in Russian Federation" was prepared based on the materials of the research, conduced in ten territories, most of which have the highest HIV rate among population what includes women.
This overview presents and analyses HIV statistics among women and children in the country and in the territories observed, it analyses the practice of care delivery to HIV-positive women and children, including the issue of prenatal HIV-prevention. One of the important subjects discussed in the overview is the question of care delivery to abandoned children born from HIV-positive mothers. The overview of the legislative and normative acts on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention shows the measures taken by the Ministry of health in RF on the implementation of the complex approach to the questions of PMTCT. This overview contains the suggestions on the quality improvement of care delivery and the delivery of social and psychological support to children, women, and families affected by HIV-infection.

This article also describes 4 steps in the quality improvement model (plan, do, study, act) and shows the practical implementation of QI methodology. Four approaches were chosen to illustrate different QI methods: individual problem solving, rapid team-based problem solving, on-going team-based problem solving, and process improvement.

Information: This monograph starts with the description of principles and structures that are the basis in a modern paradigm for improving healthcare quality. "Change" is described as a key element for each improvement. This monograph also contains information on the structure of quality improvement, as well as integration of evidence-based medicine with QI. It also gives interpretation for four main QI principles: client-oriented, process analysis, team-based problem solving, application of evidence-based standards.
Part 2 of the monograph views the whole specter of QI methods and emphasizes that there are an unlimited number of QI approaches that should be chosen according to the kind of improvement needed. The following four parts discuss in details each 4 approaches to QI methodology. Each of the approaches is illustrated with best examples. The last part of the monograph is devoted to the QI tools, what includes data collection, process description and data analysis. The application of each of the tools is also illustrated with examples.
